The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) invites applications from young people, aged between 21 and 25 (at the time of application), willing to represent Australia for two months in Indonesia during December 2008 and January 2009 as members of the AIYEP 2008-09.

The program aims to provide wider opportunities for young people of Indonesia and Australia to appreciate the culture, development and way of life of each other's country.

Participants will be chosen from applicants undertaking tertiary studies or employed in any one or more of the areas listed below:

Agriculture, Arts, Music, Asian Studies, Economics, Business, Education, Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Journalism, Media, Law, Medicine, Politics, Sports and Tourism.

A good level of Indonesian language is desirable.

To apply, applicants must

* Hold a bachelor’s degree and have completed 16 years of school education (up to undergraduate level). A strong background in economics and associated quantitative tools is useful and,in the case of the Economic Policy Course, highly recommended.

NOTE: Those applicants having completed their university education in countries where formal schooling lasts less than 16 years, who are at least 22 years old, and who have spent at least one year in a research or similar institution, can become qualified to apply by filling out and submitting the provided form (Certificate of research Activities).

* Have at least 2 years (and preferably 4 to 5) of recent professional experience in a field related to economic development.
* Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the English language by submitting the TOEFL scores or other evidence as deemed appropriate by the Graduate School.
* Demonstrate verbal and quantitative skills by submitting the Graduate record Examination (GRE) scores or other evidence as deemed appropriate by the Graduate School.
* In addition,applicants must be under 45 (but preferably under 35) years of age. Priority will be given to mid-career professionals.

The following documentation is required

1. Application form (found in the back pocket of the brochure or downloadable from the top-left of this page) in full. The Personal Statement and the Study Plan must be typewritten. Applicants must choose their preferred Course from the two options offered (Economic Policy and International Public Policy). Adjustments to that choice are possible during the screening process.
2. Four letters of recommendation (two issued by academics and two by professionals).
3. Transcripts from institutions of higher education attended.
4. Diplomas certifying to higher education degrees obtained. note. Diplomas and transcripts must be originals or certified true copies of original documents.
5. Curriculum vitae.
6. TOEFL scores or equivalent proof of English proficiency.
7. GRE scores or equivalent proof of skills.
8. Medical Certificate.
9. Certificate of research activities, if applicable.
10. Copies or reprints of publications other than graduation thesis, if any.
11. Three copies of a recent photograph (4 cm x 4 cm).
12. Statement of eligibility for JJ/WBGSP Scholarship.

Screening and Admission Procedures

The screening process will be based upon the evaluation of all documentation and, if necessary, on personal interviews conducted by the University of Tsukuba representatives in the countries of the candidates. Between twenty five and thirty candidates will be pre-selected by the Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program Committee at the University of Tsukuba, in a process that will be completed by november 2008.

The World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank will further screen the pre-selected applicants for the sake of the granting of scholarships. The final selection of scholarship recipients (fifteen from the World Bank and no less than two from the Inter-American Development Bank) will be announced in late December 2008.

Selected candidates are expected to arrive in Tsukuba at the end of March 2009 for final interviews and orientation. Those pre-selected candidates who did not receive a scholarship and want to study at the University of Tsukuba must pay admission and tuition fees (at least for half a year) before they are formally admitted into the Program.The Program will begin on April 1, 2009.

ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia

ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia

The ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE ‘A’) Level (or equivalent) certificate.

The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

Students from Indonesia are welcome to apply for the ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia to enter Singapore schools at the Secondary Three level. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships will be considered for the Merit Awards.
Eligibility

Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:

* Nationals of Indonesia
* Between 14+ to 16+ years old (as of January 2009)
* Sat for 2008 SMP 3 National Final Evaluation Examination (UAN) and have done consistently well in school

What is Special Scholarship Program (SSP)?

Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was established in 2003 in order to support the advanced research of the university by enlisting the help of highly capable international students. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected foreign doctoral students under specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting their host professor as a research assistant (RA). 1. PROGRAM OF STUDY

4. SCHOLARSHIP TERM
One year
*The term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three years, unless the university terminates the scholarship for any of the reasons stated below in the paragraph 12, Termination of Scholarship

5. OBLIGATIONS
(1) Scholarship recipient must work as a research assistant under the specific research project.
*However, the total paid working time per week, including research assistant work, should not exceed 28 hours.
(2) Scholarship recipient must report his/her study and research achievements to the dean of the graduate school of engineering at the end of each semester. The submitted reports will be evaluated.

6. BENEFITS
(1) Receive up to 1,200, 000 yen per year for working as a research assistant.
(2) Exemption from 300,000 yen enrollment fee, 940,000 yen (per year) tuition fee, 150,000 yen (per year) fee for facilities improvement and 150,000yen (per year) cost of experiments and laboratory work.
(3) Receive 200,000 yen for travel and initial living costs (given only to applicants who are living outside Japan at the time of application)

7. ELIGIBILITY Applicants are required to meet all of the following conditions
(1) To have or to be expected to acquire a master’s degree before enrollment.
(2) To have intention, adequate knowledge and research skill to work as a research assistant under the one of research projects listed here
(3) To have an excellent academic record
(4) To have a high English proficiency
(5) To be 35 years old or under at the time of enrollment
(6) To have other than Japanese nationality

8. APPLICATION PROCESS
(1) Choose the research project from the SSP Research Project List
for October 2008 & April 2009 Enrollment.
(2) Complete and submit all required documents.

10. ADMISSION DECISION

11. SPECIAL NOTICE
(1) If you are still working towards your master’s degree, a verified original master’s degree certificate in English from your university will be required before your enrollment can be complete. If you are not able to produce such a document, you will not be enrolled.
(2) If SSP scholarship recipient is selected as a recipient of another institution’s scholarship, his/her monthly pay for working as a research assistant will be adjusted.

12. TERMINATION OF SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships will be terminated in the following cases
(1) If the scholarship recipient takes time off from school
(2) If a report submitted in accordance with term 5 (2) is considered inadequate for a scholarship recipient.
(3) If the university considers the scholarship recipient’s behavior inappropriate for a scholarship recipient.

The Embassy of Japan is offering Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho)
Scholarships to Indonesian high school graduates who wish to study at
University (S-1); Colleges of Technology (D-3) or Professional
Training Colleges (D-2) in Japan for the academic year 2009 (April
2009). An applicant can only apply for one program, either S-1, D-3
or D-2.

Applicants must have the following qualifications (among others);(1)
Applicants must have been born between April 2, 1987 and April 1, 1992
(2) The average result of the final examination and school report for
the last semester/term of the third scholastic year must be at a
minimum;
- 8.4 for the S-1 program,
- 8.0 for the D-3 program,
- 8.0 for the D-2 program.

* In the case that an official score of the final examination can not
be issued by the closing date (June 25, 2008), a temporary score
which is certified by the head teacher will be accepted.
(3) Applicants must have graduated from a senior high school.

Application forms are available free of charge for those who meet the
above qualifications at the Embassy of Japan (Education Section:8:30-
12:00, 14:00-15:30), the Consulate General of Japan in Surabaya,
Medan and Makassar starting from May 30, 2008.
Those who are living outside of JABODETABEK, Surabaya, Medan and
Makassar can apply by sending a letter, which includes name, date of
birth, address, phone number, desired program (S-1, D-3 or D-2) and 3
desired fields of study, to the Embassy of Japan (Jl.M.H.Thamrin 24,
Jakarta Pusat 10350) or the Consulate Generals of Japan by post along
with their copies of school report, certificate (ijazah) and the
score of the final examination.

The completed application must be submitted to the Embassy of Japan
or the Consulate Generals of Japan with their copies of school
report, ijazah and the score of the final examination by June 25,
2008.
