The Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a 2-year-long international Masters course funded by the European Commission. It directly responds to the educational needs created by the rapidly changing global environment and new public policy challenges. Mundus MAPP equips graduates with the conceptual knowledge and hard skills that are necessary for understanding and decisively intervening in contemporary transnational policy problems, from climate change to international terrorism or financial regulatory failure. It provides a detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local levels with a direct focus on European engagements at these levels of governance. Inter-disciplinarity and practical application of conceptual knowledge are hallmarks of Mundus MAPP.
The European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus program provides scholarships to outstanding students from within and outside the European Union to attend Mundus MAPP and to visiting scholars to participate in teaching and research. The Consortium universities also support these students by offering partial tuition fee waivers to Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients.
Admissions requirements
Mundus MAPP is open to both European and overseas (third country national) students. Erasmus Mundus scholarships are provided for the best eligible applicants by the European Commission.
Minimum requirements are:
Bachelors degree (completed at least three years of undergraduate study – normally at least Second Class);
Fluency in English: .
Mundus MAPP does not require a language certificate from applicants from the following countries, provided that they have received a Bachelor’s or Master’sdegree taught exclusively in English:
Australia, Botswana, Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Liberia,
Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda (English-speaking region), South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA and Zambia
Applicants from countries other than these may request a waiver from the English language admissions requirement if they hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree taught exclusively in English from a university or college in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
All other applicants will need to provide evidence of their English language skills with any one ofthe following test scores:
TOEFL (Computer-based; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 237 or above; OR
TOEFL (Paper version; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 580 or above; OR
TOEFL (Internet version; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 92 or above; OR
International English Language Test (IELTS; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 6.5 or above; OR
Cambridge Proficiency Examination (taken on/after February 11, 2007) C or above; OR
Cambridge Advanced English Test (taken on/after February 11, 2007) B or above.

High motivation and interest in European and international public policy.

Although Spanish is no longer a requirement for mobility tracks involving IBEI, basic knowledge of Spanish is recommended as some electives will only be available in Spanish.
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience.

How to apply
Admissions to Mundus MAPP are centrally administered by Central European University in Budapest. Qualitative assessment of the candidates is performed jointly by the four consortium universities. Please note that only applications submitted to CEU in the way detailed below will be considered. It is not possible to apply to Mundus MAPP universities other than CEU.
Candidates are required to fill in an on-line application form.
Besides submitting the on-line application form candidates will be required to upload supporting documentation. The list of these documents and the relevant forms are available here. The form for online applications is available here. Candidates are advised to start obtaining/preparing supplementary documents even before the form goes live.

Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarships, Singapore 2012

The Nanyang President`s Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a doctoral degree programme (PhD) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), one of Asia`s leading research universities. Funding will be provided for up to 4 years for NPGS awardees.
Number of awards available
Up to 30 NPGS awards will be made available in each Academic Year. Successful candidates will be known as Nanyang President`s Graduate Scholars.
Minimum qualifications
To qualify for a NPGS award, you must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent at Bachelor`s level and applicants should also demonstrate excellent research abilities. The PhD research will be in any topic agreed between you and your chosen NTU supervisor within the research activities of NTU. At the time of application, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree programme, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. Failure to do so will disqualify you from the NPGS award, in which case you may be considered for other NTU PhD research scholarships, subject to meeting the selection criteria.

Qualification
During the first year, you will be expected to take relevant courses and to work towards passing the qualifying examination. In the event that this qualification is not met, there will be no conversion to a Masters degree for the NPGS awardees.

Stipend and allowances
The NPGS award terms are:

  1. Monthly stipend of S$3200
  2. Full support of tuition fees
  3. Conference allowance for two major overseas conferences in the 4-year period
  4. One-time IT allowance of S$1500
  5. Annual grant of S$500 for journal subscription or book purchase
  6. Thesis preparation allowance
  7. Priority for subsidized campus accommodation
Teaching
Upon passing the qualifying examination, NPGS awardees will be expected to undertake some undergraduate teaching (up to a limit of 10 hours per week). Awardees will be reimbursed if their teaching hours exceed what is required by the framework of their PhD training. Undergraduate teaching contributions will demand a high level of English language proficiency and you may be required to undertake English language courses as necessary in your first year.

Application for AY2012-13 will be open from 1 Oct 2011 to 15 Nov 2011. Applicants who are interested to apply for the August 2012 or January 2013 intake should apply during this period.

The Ancora-Khazanah Asia Scholarship is a collaboration between the Ancora Foundation and Yayasan Khazanah to allow Indonesians to pursue a four-year undergraduate education at leading Malaysian universities.
This programme supports Yayasan Khazanah's objective to develop future business and industry leaders in the region. It further provides a means for Khazanah and its group of companies to contribute towards the social development of the countries it has operational interests, especially Indonesia.
It seeks candidates with an excellent academic record and rigor in extra curricular activity. It is a highly competitive process. In 2009, five candidates were selected from a field of around 500 applicants. They have several universities to choose from. These include Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Universiti Multimedia, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

The Fellowship brings journalists from Asia to Singapore's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University for three months.

 Eligibility
Applicants should have at least five years of full-time working experience as journalists (not including as student journalists) and possess potential for leadership and management within the profession or organisation.
Applicants should be residing in Asia. Preference is given to those working for Asian media organisations.
Applicants can be working in any medium — print, radio, television or online.
Journalists working in non-English media are welcome to apply, but must show proficiency in English through a telephone interview, as English is the working language of the programme.
Applications from journalists in full-time positions must be accompanied by a letter of support from employers, stating that the applicant would be released for the full period of the fellowship, from 25 February to 20 May 2012. Freelancers are welcome to apply if they are primarily engaged in news or current affairs journalism

All the required documents must reach the Wee Kim Wee School no later than 5pm (Singapore Time), Friday 14th October 2011.
