Function
The Department of Health Technology Assessment conducted research into
costs and effects of
medical interventions to support decision making. For example, this
cost-effectiveness studies of clinical trials, but there are also
model studies with state-of-the-art modeling techniques. The
department focuses on a number of specific areas of expertise:
discrete-event modeling, value of information analysis, blood safety
models, stroke models and cost-effectiveness analyzes of national
screening programs. The department is part of the Julius Center (see
more about
information on the website www.juliuscenter.nl).

At this time, data on blood transfusions are not structurally
collected and analyzed. The PROTON2 study we want to change this by
setting a data warehouse which besides transfusion data from Dutch
hospitals also detailed data on the blood products themselves are
housed. Due to this combination, it becomes possible to determine the
cause of undesirable transfusion reactions, or other clinical outcomes
to link characteristics of the products, production or donors.
Furthermore, the results are used to control the blood for use in
different patient groups
of different hospitals to compare. The ultimate goal is to use the
hard data that the study yields PROTON2, safety and efficiency of
blood transfusions in the Netherlands to improve. You will help in the
design and construction of the data warehouse, perform various
statistical analyzes and will be engaged in the Solving methodological
problems in answering different
research questions. The research will you, as a PhD student, end with
a academic promotion.

The salary for this function ranges from 89-100% up to € 2700.00 gross
per month based on full-time employment (working week of 36 hours).
This is a temporary appointment for 3 years.

Unesco Fellowships :UNESCO/People’s Republic of China – The Great Wall Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2012 - 2013

On behalf of the Director-General, I have the pleasure to inform you that, within the
framework of the UNESCO Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme, the Government of
the People's Republic of China has renewed in January 2012, the offer of twenty-five (25)
fellowships for advanced studies in varied subjects for the benefit of certain Member
States (see Annex No. I).
Offered in open competition, these fellowships are intended for senior advanced
students wishing to pursue non-degree post-graduate studies for one year at Chinese
universities. Candidatures (a maximum of two) should be submitted as prescribed on the
application form, to enable the authorities of the donor government to select the twentyfive
(25) most deserving candidates. Given that UNESCO grants priority to gender
equality, special attention will be given to women’s candidatures. Owing to the limited
number of fellowships available, only candidates having exceptional merit and excellent
potential will be considered under this co-sponsored programme.
The annexes to this letter provide detailed information concerning the requisite
qualifications, the facilities offered, the general conditions governing the award of
fellowships as well as the procedure for the submission of applications.

Details of the Scholarships
The scholarships provide an opportunity for students of diverse backgrounds from all countries in Asia to study and do research work together in the truly international environment at AIT, to build a good foundation for international understanding among people of Asia.
Each scholarship award covers tuition and fees, accommodation, and a bursary for living expenses in AIT’s residential campus, for the entire period of the 22-month master’s degree program, with values as shown in the following table:
- Tuition and registration fees for 4 semesters 752,000 Baht
- Accommodation and bursary for living expenses for 22 months 214,500 Baht
- Total Value of Scholarship ( ~ 31 Thai Baht = 1 USD) 966,500 Baht

Project description.

The Flemish policy research centre on Entrepreneurship and Regional Economics advises the Flemish government on subjects related to entrepreneurship and the spatial aspects of the economy. Particular attention goes towards smart specialisation strategies, i.e. strategies of governments that concentrate available resources in some selected promising activity sectors in order to generate sustainable economic growth. Following topics will be part of the research:

· distribution of economic activity in the region of Flanders

· how networks between and within spatial clusters of economic activity function

· how institutional capacity can be built at different levels to boost the development of clusters

Job description

· You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of Regional Economics within the framework of the Flemish policy research centre for entrepreneurship and regional economics;

· You contribute to teaching and research in the Department of Transport and Regional Economics;

· You prepare a Ph.D. thesis of the research project;

· You contribute to the research of the policy research centre at the Department of Transport and Regional Economics (University of Antwerp);

· You write scientific articles on the subject of your thesis and on additional research;

· The candidate is expected to enrol the university's Ph.D. program and to obtain a Ph.D. at the end of the project.

Eligibility

A privately financed student from Indonesia, who wishes to pursue a master’s course in Japan, should meet the following requirements:

Nationality:
Applicants must be citizens of Indonesia

Educational Background etc:
Applicants must be graduates or pending graduates of universities and have a distinguished academic record and must have completed 16 years of school education or have been accepted as eligible for enrollment at the targeted graduate schools. However, applicants must have completed their bachelor degrees no more than 4 years prior to the date of their arrival in Japan. (with age less than 26 years old in March 2013).

Specialization:
Applicants must major in any one of the science and technology disciplines. (Mathematics, Natural Science, Engineering, Bio-technology, Agricultural, and IT (Information Technology)
Note: This excludes medical science, pharmacology and dentistry

Japanese Language Proficiency:
Applicants must have adequate proficiency and knowledge in the Japanese language not only for studying at master’s level but also for understanding Japanese culture.

Health Conditions:
Applicants must be medically fit and must be strongly motivated to study in Japan.

Others:
Applicants must be interested in and have the desire to contribute to the development of Indonesia and to promote friendship between Indonesia and Japan. .
o Applicants must obtain a study visa and arrive in Japan by end of March 2013to attend the award ceremony to be held at Panasonic Headquarters at the beginning of April 2013.
Applicants who are receiving or will receive other scholarships including Japanese Government Scholarships are not eligible for the Panasonic Scholarship.
Applicants who are already enrolled at graduate schools in Japan at the time of application are not eligible for the Panasonic Scholarship.

Application Procedures




Application Procedures: Indonesia Panasonic Office will select Panasonic Scholarship candidates in three phases, as follow :

PHASE I.
All candidates must apply through (and only by) electronics application. This first selection will seek a record of the applicants overall data including: biographical information, academic records (GPA), language capabilities, and readiness to enroll master degree program in Japan. The e-application submission will be closed on MARCH 17th, 2012 . In Phase I, 100 (hundreds) applicants will be selected as semifinalist and their names will be announced in MARCH 22th 2012 . via e-mail and website.
PHASE II.
Semifinalists will be notified and receive an official application form through login and download from Panasonic Scholarship Indonesia website (user and password will deliver only to 100 (hundreds) Semifinalist later.
The form will require detailed biographical data, academic report (transcript), an essay of master research proposal, personal recommendations, and Professor acceptance. The semifinalist must submit official application form (item 1 until 5) as mentioned below by mail with deadline on APRIL 30th, 2012.

Documents to be submitted in Phase II :
Application form (prescribed form No.1)
A letter of recommendation from the dean of the university the applicants graduated from (prescribed form No.2)
Study and research plan in Japan (prescribed form No.3)
Original university transcript (or legalized), photocopy only without legalized unacceptable.
A certified copy of the applicant’s degree
The committee will selects 12 (twelve) finalists based on documents screening, and mini-thesis or research proposal evaluation.
PHASE III.
On June 11th – 12th, 2012 [tentative] all finalists will be invited to attend the Final Selection Stage. The Committee composed of Panasonic Gobel Group of Companies top management, distinguished universities professors, Panasonic Scholarship Inc. Japan, and Training & Recruitment Consultants will interview and evaluate each finalist. The 3 (three) most qualified finalists will be selected to be Panasonic Scholarship Nominees.
