The School of Media, Film and Music is delighted to offer a £5,000 scholarship to UK/HEU and non EU students who have been accepted on the MA in Media Practice for International Development, starting in September 2013.

The scholarship is offered as a reduction in tuition fees of £5,000 and will be awarded to the student who possesses the highest academic ability and potential (not made on the basis of financial need).

Applicants must have been offered a place on the above Masters degree.
Applicants must commence the degree in September 2013 (awards cannot be deferred to subsequent years).
Current Sussex undergraduate students are eligible to apply.

The WIA Foundation is pleased to provide scholarships to women interested in a career in the aerospace field to pursue higher education degrees in engineering, math orscience. One or more awards will be given each year to a rising junior or senior in college, to be applied during the upcoming academic year.
To be eligible for the WIA Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must be interested in pursuing a career in the aerospace field and be a rising junior or senior working towards abachelor’s degree in engineering, math or science. An applicant must have completed at least two and a half academic years of full-time college work at the time of application and must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States or itsterritories, and plan to be enrolled in the subsequent academic year. Each applicant must have a college grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must be female of any nationality. Applications will be available on or about November 1 for the subsequent academic year.

Two awards of $2,000 each will be given to rising seniors in college, to be applied to the 2013-2014 academic year.
WIA gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Digital Avionics Technical Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Eligibility Requirements:

Minimum college grade point average (GPA) of not less than the equivalent of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Must have completed at least two and a half academic years of full-time college work at the time of application, and must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States or its territories, working towards a bachelor’s degree, and plan to continue to be enrolled in the subsequent academic year
Interested in pursuing a career in the aerospace field
Entering senior year in the 2013-2014 academic year
Must be female, of any citizenship or nationality
The scholarship recipients will be honored at WIA Awards Banquet held in Fall 2013

The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was established in 2003 in order to support the advanced research of the university by enlisting the help of highly capable students especially students from foreign countries. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected doctoral students for specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English (excl. Japanese students) while at the same time assisting their host professor as a research assistant (RA). Through this program KUT wishes to expand and deepen international ties with academic and educational institutions all over the world.

SCHOLARSHIP TERM One year
*The term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three years, unless the university terminates the SSP student status for any of the reasons stated in paragraph 12 below, Termination of SSP Student Status.

OBLIGATIONS

The SSP student must work as a research assistant in a specific research project. However, the total paid working hour per week for students with “Student” status of Japanese redidence, should not exceed 28 hours per week.
The SSP student must report his/her study and research achievements to the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering at the end of each semester. The submitted reports will be evaluated.




BENEFITS

International applicants are exempted from 300,000 yen of enrollment fee.
Tuition of 535,800 yen (per year) will be exempted.
240,000 yen per year as a SSP Scholarship upon application.
Up to 960,000 yen per year for working as a research assistant.
200,000 yen for travel and initial living costs. (given only to foreign students who are living outside Japan, and who have, or have the intention to acquire, “Student” status of Japanese residence at the time of entry into Japan)
ELIGIBILITY Applicants are required to meet all of the following conditions

To have nationality other than Japanese.
To have or have the intention to acquire the “Student” status of Japanese residence, at the time of entrance, in accordance with the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act in Japan.
To have or to be expected to acquire a master’s degree before enrollment.
To have excellent academic records in both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
To be 35 years old or under at the time of enrollment.
To have the intention, adequate knowledge and research skill to work as a research assistant in one of the research projects.
To have high English proficiency.
APPLICATION PROCESS

Choose a research project from the SSP Research Project List.
Complete and submit all required documents.
ADMISSION DECISION
The submitted documents will be carefully examined in the course of the first screening. Only applicants who are successful in that screening will then be examined in such forms as an interview, an English written exam, an academic achievement written exam in the specialized field required for the conduct of the selected research project, etc. The interview and other formalities will be held at a place that will be appointed separately (hopefully in your home country).

SPECIAL NOTICE

If you are still working towards your master’s degree, a verified original master’s degree certificate in English or Japanese from your university will be required before your enrollment can be completed. If you are not able to produce such a document, you will not be enrolled.
In any case where a SSP Student is selected as a recipient of another institution’s scholarship, the scholarship as described in 6-will be canceled, and his/her monthly pay for working as a research assistant will be adjusted.
KUT will provide appropriate single accommodation for successful applicants whose resident status in Japan is “Student.” If you desire to bring your family members and live with them in Japan, you must initiate your own apartment rental.
To complete the doctoral program as a SSP Student, you need to meet all of the following conditions.
3 year’s enrollment in the school
10 or more credits
successful completion of the doctoral thesis defense
publication of two or more high level reviewed papers
TERMINATION OF SSP STUDENT STATUS
SSP student status will be terminated in the following cases

In the case where a student’s report, submitted in accordance with term 5-(2), is assessed as being below the standard for SSP students.
In the case of behavior which is deemed inappropriate for a SSP student.

Application Submission
All international students who have made an application to study at Bond University (by the scholarship closing date for each semester) will be considered for an International Student Scholarship.

It is recommended that when students complete a Bond University Application Form, they submit a personal statement (outlining why you should be awarded a Bond scholarship), references, resume and certified copies of other relevant documentation to assist in supporting your application.

As part of the selection process, all shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in a telephone interview.

Selections for each intake of scholarship students are assessed based on academic merit. Should your submission not be successful at the time of application, your details will be reassessed for future semester intakes up until the point of acceptance.

Please note: Only short-listed applicants will be contacted for an interview. If you are not contacted for an interview by the dates stated in the general information above, then you can assume you have been unsuccessful in your application. The Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) offers an LLM in Mineral Law and Policy, which provides with the required interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to deal with the current legal, policy and economic issues and challenges in mineral resources investment and development. CEPMLP’s interdisciplinary nature and perspectives in international and comparative law and the success of its emphasis on a theoretical and practical approach to learning make it one of the premier organisations of its kind worldwide.

 Rio Tinto plc, together with CEPMLP, acknowledging the importance of contributing worldwide to sustainable mineral resources development, are offering as part of their partnership’s activities up to a maximum of 6 fully funded postgraduate scholarships leading to the degree:

Master of Laws (LLM) in Mineral Law and Policy
The award will offer the successful candidate:

Payment of academic tuition fees
12 monthly stipends for living expenses for a single student
An arrival allowance and thesis/assignment allowance
Applicants eligible for consideration should:

Already hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK upper second class honours degree or higher
Be able to demonstrate a high level of English language competence (minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no component less than 6.0)
Display intellectual ability and leadership potential
Have a proven track record and potential to rise to positions of influence
Preferably be qualified lawyers having had some post-degree work experience in mining in the government, private sector, or academia

Method of Scholarship Selection
Please note that there is no separate application form for the Rio Tinto plc Scholarship.

Candidates who are offered unconditional admission to the fullt-ime LLM in Mineral Law and Policy programme should provide a 250-word Personal Statement, preferably attached to their UKPASS application, or sent under separate cover, by email attachment to Kathleen Shortt: k.a.shortt@dundee.ac.uk.

It is important to demonstrate in your Personal Statement that you are motivated to make a career that will take you to a position of leadership in your own country within 10 years of your Scholarship. You must be committed to networking to find global solutions and you should be able to use your studies and experience gained in the UK to benefit yourself, your country and the UK. You should become a first-class ambassador for the UK in your home country. Your Personal Statement should emphasise the following points:

Your ability to make a difference in the world, illustrated by your leadership qualities
Your skills in communications and the ability to influence people and decisions
Your networking ability, ambition and plans for the future
Your academic background and potential on the LLM degree programme, your strength of character and integrity
Your outside interests – ie hobbies and activities
