The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) invites application for its annual graduate scholarship. This scholarship is open to the nationals of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam, who are regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies and are not older than 35 years of age. The scholarship is offered in agriculture, forestry and related fields at Bogor Agricultural University and Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia, Putra University in Malaysia, University of the Philippines and Kasetsart University in Thailand.

Study Subject(s): The program provides support for advanced studies leading to the Master’s and PhD degrees in agriculture, forestry and related fields.
Course Level: This award is available for pursuing graduate studies (Master and PhD).

Scholarship Description: The program provides support for advanced studies leading to the Masters and PhD degrees in agriculture, forestry, and related fields. SEARCA aims to prepare highly qualified professionals working in agricultural and rural development for positions of leadership in SEAMEO member countries.

Duration of award(s): The scholarship is granted on a yearly basis up to a maximum of four semesters for a master’s degree program and six semesters for a doctoral program.

What does it cover? The scholarship covers tuition and other school fees; book and supplies allowance; thesis/ dissertation support; insurance and travel (round trip air ticket from home country to study post and local transportation), and a stipend of $500/month for food, lodging and incidental expenses. The scholarship has no provision for any member of the scholar’s family.

How to Apply: Applications may be submitted to any one of the following Ministries of his/her own country: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Fisheries and Ministry of Rural Development. Applications may be submitted directly to the Ministry of Education/Higher Education, or to the Ministry where the applicant is employed for preliminary screening. The Ministry where the applicant is employed may conduct preliminary screening of applicants and submit their nominations and the application documents to the Ministry of Education/Higher Education, which will then include the nominees of other Ministries in the final list of candidates to be submitted to SEARCA. Alternatively, the other Ministries may opt to just receive applications and forward these, without preliminary screening, to the Ministry of Education/Higher Education.

Scholarship Application Deadline: Deadline for the Ministries to send endorsements to SEARCA is every 30 July.

Government of Japan is offering ADB-Japan Scholarship Programme for students  of Asian Development Bank’s developing member countries. The scholarship is to undertake postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region. The scholarship is for one year with an extension to the second year of study. Students must have a bachelors degree and are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries. The ADB-JSP covers tuition fees, airfare, Basic cost of living, health and medical insurance and also research grant. Applications should be electronically or by post.

Study Subject(s): Programs covered by the ADB-JSP are postgraduate studies in economics, management,health,education, agriculture, environment, natural resource management, science and technology and also other development-related fields. Only programs at the 27 participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Regions are eligible for ADB-JSP funding.

Course Level: This scholarship is for pursuing master’s degree level.

Eligibility: -A national of an ADB borrowing member (applicants from countries that are no longer borrowing from ADB are not eligible for the ADB-JSP Scholarship).

-A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with superior academic record.
-At least two (2) years of full-time professional working experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application. Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies.
-Not more than 35 years old at the time of application. In exceptional cases, for programs which are appropriate for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years old.
-In good health.
-Should agree to return to his/her home country after completion of studies under the Program.
-Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, management and staff of ADB, consultants, and relatives of the aforementioned are  not eligible for the Scholarship.
-Staff of academic institutions are not eligible for the Scholarship.
-Applicants living or working in a country other than his/her home country are not eligible for scholarships.
-ADB-JSP does not support applicants who are already enrolled in graduate degree programs.
-ADB-JSP does not sponsor undergraduate studies, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

Duration of award(s): The scholarship is for one year with an extension to the second year of study, as appropriate, which shall be conditional on the scholar maintaining a satisfactory level of performance as determined by the institute. The maximum duration of scholarship award is two years for masters and doctorate programs.

For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation.

-The Program will, in principle, not support applicants who have previously studied abroad.
-The Program will, in principle, not support applicants who are pursuing a second MA or a second PhD degree.
-Candidates who are applying at a DI in their own country may not be selected.
-Diversification of nationality in the overall Program as well as at each DI level will be considered.
-The Program encourages studies in line with core areas of ADB’s Strategy 2020, which address poverty reduction through -infrastructure, environment, regional cooperation and integration, finance sector development, and education.

Notification: A selection process will take place after the application closing date and all applicants who have submitted complete applications will be notified of the outcome by the end of November 2013.

Who is eligible?
SABIC offers a scholarship to a talented master's student, who has been admitted to one of the master’s programmes of the School of Business and Economicsstarting in September 2013. Candidates applying for this scholarship should have interest in the chemicals industry and B-to-b markets. Preffered education areas are supply chain management, business administration, chemical engineering, finance, HR and communications..
 
Candidates must have met all requirements of the application procedure. The scholarship is meant as a contribution to the living expenses for a maximum period of 12 months. SABIC has affiliates and offices in 40 different countries (seewww.sabic.com). Nationals from these countries are preferred.
 
Applicants must meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa for the Netherlands.

Application and selection
 
The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is 1 March 2013In order to be eligible for a scholarship, you need to be admitted to a master’s programme. This means that we need a complete file, for the Msc programme also, before 1 March 2013.

Therefore we advise students to take the gmat- or gre, Toefl/Ielts test before 10th February. Please include your scholarship application in your master’s application and upload this document in the category ‘Apply for Scholarship’ in My UM. We will not be able to  take your application into consideration if we receive it via regular mail or e-mail.
 
The Faculty will rank the scholarship candidates. The Maastricht University Scholarship Committee and SABIC Europe will make the final decision. Applicants will be informed about the selection outcome mid April.
For the scholarship assessment, the Scholarship Committee takes all elements of the application into account, including the level of previous study programmes, academic excellence, motivation, status of the home institution, the connection with the prior study programme, future career plans and the references.
