The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Eindhoven University of Technology has four vacancies for 4 year full-time PhD research positions within the Security (SEC) group.


The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a classical technical University, with a strong research and teaching record. The Security group (SEC) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the TU/e performs research in two areas vital to the security of decentralized and embedded systems: security-policy specification & enforcement, and security of embedded systems. The topic of the project is biometric authentication with the best possible privacy protection. The aim is to develop a Secure Sketch (a special type of error correction) that is efficient enough to be implemented on a smartcard. We are looking for someone with strong analytic skills and coding skills.

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions integrate in-vehicle data (XFCD) and other data sources to enable smart traffic management, driver information and new types of applications. In this project we address related privacy and security concerns ranging from in-vehicle application platform to large scale cloud systems.




Tasks. Your tasks as a PhD researcher are:
- Carry out research within the project, in cooperation with the other parties involved;
- Report on the results in papers and conference contributions;
- Finishing a PhD thesis within four years;
- A small contribution to the teaching activities of the Security group may be asked.


Requirements. We are looking for candidates that meet the following requirements:
- A Master degree in Computer Science, theoretical physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a similar curriculum;
- An interest in computer security and privacy;
- Ability to work in a team, cooperate with the industrial and academic partners
- fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical skills and software development skills;


Appointment and salary.  We offer:
- A full time temporary appointment for a period of 4 years, with an intermediate evaluation after 9 months;
- A gross salary of â,¬ 2083 per month in the first year increasing to  â,¬ 2664 in the fourth year;

As part of our ongoing investment in research, the University’s Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment is pleased to announce the availability of a fully funded PhD research studentship to start in February or May 2015. We welcome applications from UK, EU and Overseas students. The Birmingham School of the Built Environment, and its associated research centres, has an international profile in a number of research areas including environmental and spatial planning, ecosystems services, construction, digitising the built environment, Building Information Modelling, sustainable systems, and environmental governance. We work closely with professional bodies and employers across the built and natural environment, and much of our research is designedly interdisciplinary. We have identified a number of PhD topics – details and contacts are available on our website – that extend our existing research strengths and welcome applications in these areas.
The Award: The studentship covers the cost of tuition fees at the UK/EU rate or, in exceptional circumstances, the overseas rate and a stipend. In the 2014/2015 academic year, the stipend is £13,863. The studentship is available to support three years' full-time study, subject to satisfactory progress, and there is an expectation that students will also deliver up to 6 hours of teaching/demonstrating per week.

Program Description
BAGSS invites applications from highly qualified graduates from the fields of Sociology, Psychology, Educational Science, Political Science, Economics, Demography, and Statistics. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the aforementioned subjects or be very close to completion. (The degree must be completed by the time of admission to BAGSS. The next admission date is April 1, 2015.)

The Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) in Germany currently invites applications for 12 doctoral fellowships (positions or scholarships with a duration of up to three years). To apply the positions, candidates must hold a Master’s degree from the fields of Sociology, Psychology, Educational Science, Political Science, Economics, Demography, and Statistics.
